The Ardmore Craig design team has recently completed a FEED study and secondary detailing exercise to develop a concept to raise and lower a vessel spud can in a more work friendly and safety conscious manner.
Commencing with a vessel visit and equipment survey, the existing method of raising and lowering the can was witnessed and initial recommendations made on how the practice could be undertaken more safely whilst still utilising the majority of lifting equipment already onboard the vessel.
The Ardmore Craig team then undertook detail design, calculation and analysis of a solution which was provided to the end client for cost appraisal and implementation.
