Ardmore Craig is pleased to announce successful mobilisation of its latest cable lay spread which includes a customised carousel, and follows its design and support activities over the last twelve months.
Initially starting with the design of a 800 tonne capacity carousel (designed for future upgrades to increase capacity) the spread includes spooling systems, cable highways, subsea and onshore quadrants, an over boarding chute with adjustable tilt arm, a linear cable engine, surf ladders, deck grillages and a wide range of deck structures and access systems. The supply also includes the associated transpooling equipment to get the cable from a series of storage baskets to the vessel.
A wide range of activities were undertaken during the course of this project which included:
- Concept design of equipment and deck layout arrangements
- Detail design and analysis
- Manufacturing draughting
- Vessel and equipment surveys
- Supplier selection and support
- Mobilisation plans and procedures
- Training videos
- Marine warranty liaison and support
- Mobilisation support
Director Andrew Stevenson commented “this has been a fantastic project for our team to be involved in from conception through to reality and it’s pleasing to see the final spread installed on the vessel. We have worked closely with our client and the end user of the vessel throughout this project and the benefits of our close working relationship have beneficial to all involved”
The spread is now in use and Ardmore Craig has already received further orders on the back of its performance on this project.
